HYDRAULIC OR ELECTRIC PRESS BRAKE?

  • Workload and Material Types: Hydraulic press brakes can handle higher tonnage so are mostly used for thicker or harder materials (40 to 2000 tons). Electric press brakes are more suitable for lighter or medium-duty applications and are more efficient for bending thinner materials (40 to 200 tons).
  • Precision and Control: Electric press brakes typically offer more precise control over the bending process due to their servo-driven technology. If your operations demand high accuracy and repeatability in bending, an electric press brake might be a better choice.
  • Energy Efficiency: Electric press brakes are generally more energy-efficient compared to hydraulic ones. By using 100% electrical power instead of hydraulic oil, it minimizes pollution and reduces environmental impacts.
  • Maintenance and Operating Costs: Hydraulic press brakes have higher maintenance requirements due to the hydraulic systems involved. Electric press brakes have fewer moving parts, which translate to lower maintenance costs over time.
  • Speed and Productivity: When compared to Hydraulic, Electric press brakes demonstrates a speed improvement of 30% thanks to its ability to quickly change directions. Its lower maintenance schedule also reduces downtimes and improves productivity.
  • Initial Investment and Budget: Electric press brakes can have a higher initial cost compared to hydraulic models. Consider your budget and the long-term operational cost savings associated with each type when making a decision.
  • Operating Safety: Having no hydraulic parts, the Electric press brakes operates silently, providing a quiet working environment. Both features industry standard safety features to protect the operators.
